2-D animation
This 2D dinosaur animation was created using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator. To develop an accurate and believable design, I studied references from films, historical and archaeological illustrations, and fossil structures to better understand the animal’s form and movement. I broke down the anatomy into key sections—torso, tail, neck, and head—to guide the process. Using these references, I created a series of rough, serviceable sketches that established the foundation for the final animated piece.
My inspiration for this piece comes directly from my day job as a preschool teacher, where dinosaurs are a huge part of everyday life for children ages 3–5. In that world, dinosaurs aren’t just toys—they’re characters, stories, and a constant source of excitement and imagination. Being surrounded by that energy influenced the personality and movement in my animation, pushing me to create something that feels playful, expressive, and engaging.

3-D animation
The red dinosaur was the piece that pulled me out of an animation rut. While I felt comfortable and consistent in 2D animation, I realized something was missing compared to the depth and experimentation I enjoy in 3D work. I wanted to push myself creatively and bring more variety into my animation selection, and this project gave me that spark again. It challenged me to think differently about movement, style, and character, ultimately refreshing my approach to animation.
